Thanks to the many fans of ‘A Dish Served Cold’, John Cooper is back bigger than ever. ‘The Dealmaker’ breaks all the rules and will keep you reading from sunup to sundown. A definite must read.

Geoff was born in Blackburn, Lancashire, England and immigrated to Canada with his parents at a young age. He attended and graduated from Preston High School. He was very active in all sports as a child, hockey being his most proficient.

His first job out of school was as an expediter at Canadian General Tower in what was formerly called Galt, Ontario. (since amalgamated with Preston and Hespeler to form the current city of Cambridge.) At the age of twenty one he joined the Ontario Provincial Police. He started as a patrol officer and after nine years became a criminal investigator. A few years later he was transferred into the forces’ headquarters in Toronto, working in the Intelligence Unit. Shortly thereafter he was seconded to the Hamilton Joint Forces Unit, a tactical investigative unit which targeted major crime, specifically organized crime.

He got the writing bug because he loved reading thrillers and mysteries, and even though a number of years had passed, he knew it was an itch that needed to be scratched. He decided to write crime fiction novels because that’s something he knew, but more importantly, he wanted to tell it from the police officers’ perspective. How do they think? What do they feel? How do they deal with the pressures? And what about the internal politics? This is why he chose to have a recurring main character in Detective John Leonard Cooper. He would become the conduit to answering most of these questions throughout a series of books. The name John comes from a favourite uncle when he was growing up, who used to take him along in the fuel truck as he delivered oil to various homes and businesses in town. Leonard Cooper was his maternal grandfather, a tall lanky and quiet man who was a medal recipient in the First World War.

He still lives in Cambridge with his wife Linda (a former Hespeler girl). He has two grown sons who are married and with their beautiful wives have blessed him with five unbelievable grand-children.
